Plastic pollution is one of the most serious long term environmental problems that will affect this planet. This problem must be addressed to prevent further damage to our environment. Research tells us that humans have produced an estimated 8.3 billion metric tons (approximately 9 billion US tons) of fully synthetic plastics since its invention in 1907. Out of the 8.3 billion, more than 6.3 billion have become plastic waste. Piled up into one place, it would create a cube with a side length of 1.2 miles. Only 9% of it is recycled and 12% incinerated.

The problems that follow plastic waste are not easy to solve. One Planet seeks to bring awareness to the problem by creating posters and ads that communicates the amount of plastic waste humans produce. With attention spans decreasing due to the fastness and abundance of information, it remains difficult to present content that people want to read. In order to communicate the scale of the problem at hand, eye catching, impactful graphic images combined with minimal type aim to not only catch the attention of the consumer, but to retain it as well.
